Publishing Your Website using Visual Page
- Up in the top menu, you will see the word
"view"
- Click it and drag it down to "preferences"
- Default host: your domain name or IP address
- Default directory: /yourdomainname-www (don't put your
extension on there such as .com, .net, etc)
- Default username: your username provided in your
welcome letter
- Default password: your password provided in your
welcome letter
- Then click "ok"
That sets you up to ftp to our server. (you shouldn't have
to do that again, unless you have to reinstall the program)
- Now, when you get ready to upload your site, go to the
word "file" in the top men and drag it down to "open ftp
site" and it should pop up the information we just put in at your
preferences.
- Click ok
- It should then bring up a screen that shows your
directory on our server and all your files.
- Click on the little icon on the left side right above
the left hand column that looks like a little square with an up arrow. (That
is the upload button)
- It will then open up a screen for you to choose which
file on your computer you want to upload to your site.
- You just navigate around in your computer and find the
files you want to upload, choose them, and click "publish".
- Make sure that you upload all the images that go with
your pages. It is best to store the images and your page in the same folder
on your computer so it will reference it correctly on your site. Actually,
it's best to put the image you are going to use in the folder with your page
before you add it to your page.
